“$hit Life Happens” Policy

An important part of professional and academic development is timeliness and keeping deadlines. However, I know sh#t happens sometimes and you may need some flexibility on my part.

For this reason, I will give each of you 2 “Life Happens” virtual token. You cannot trade or transfer tokens among each other. You may use your virtual token to:

• Hand in 1 assignment (unless it is due in class) up to 5 days late without penalty and/or
• Revise an unsatisfactory paper assignment from the approved list below within 5 days of receiving your grade

You may use both your tokens for revisions, or both your tokens for late submissions.

<aside> 🔁 Tokens: An opportunity for a do-over. Make sure to cash them no more than 24 hours after receiving your grade or 24 hours before requesting an extension.

<aside> ⚠️ Once you have redeemed your token, if you request another extension I will deduct half a letter grade for each day the assignment is late.

To use your token, you must:

1. Email me with the subject line “Cashing In My Virtual Token” and either “—Revision Request” or “—Extension Request” as soon as you can.
2. You can provide an explanation for the extension or solicit additional feedback/guidance for the planned revision at this time.
3. Provide a new deadline (date and time) that will allow you to succeed on this assignment (within 5 days).
4. Please wait for confirmation from me to finalize an extension or revision request.
